Defense Department Invests Heavily In Autonomous Warfare Development
The Pentagon is planning to invest nearly $55 billion in its Defense Autonomous Warfare Group (DAWG) initiative, which aims to develop and integrate autonomous drone technologies. The funding request, which includes $1 billion in the base budget and $53.6 billion in reconciliation funds, represents a 24,070% increase over the previous year’s allocation. According to Pentagon officials, the DAWG initiative will focus on rapid innovation and collaborative autonomy efforts, with the goal of developing new capabilities and enhancing the military’s ability to respond to emerging threats.
