Pentagon Launches Top Drone School

Drone Operators Hone Skills In Threat-Representative Environment

The Pentagon recently staged its first ‘Top Drone’ school, a training event for drone pilots to demonstrate their skills in a threat-representative environment. The event was part of the Defense Department’s Technology Readiness Experimentation, or T-REX, which aims to validate prototypes and fill urgent capability gaps. Lt. Col. Matt Limeberry, commander of the Pentagon’s Rapid Assessment or Prototype Technology Task Force, said the department plans to host at least two Top Drone schools each year. The inaugural event featured participation from two companies, Vector and Code 19, and two service partners, the Army’s Combat Lethality Task Force and its Aviation Center of Excellence. This was first reported by Defense News.
