Historic Funding Allocation May Zero Out Wishlist For Top Commander
The Pentagon’s FY27 budget request includes a significant allocation of $11.7 billion for the Pacific Deterrence Initiative, which may cover all the needs of INDOPACOM Commander Adm. Samuel Paparo. The budget is a $1.7 billion increase over the FY26 allocation and is part of a larger $1.5 trillion Department of Defense budget plan. The administration projects a decline in PDI funding over the next few years, but the current allocation suggests a strong commitment to the region. According to Breaking Defense, the budget request may zero out the need for a funding wishlist from INDOPACOM.
