Service Eyes Speedy Production Timeline For New Battleship
The US Navy expects to begin construction on the first Trump-class battleship in fiscal 2028, with a planned investment of $46 billion over the next five years. The service is requesting $1 billion in advance procurement for FY27 and $837 million in research and development funds for the new ship, which will feature advanced weaponry. The Navy is also seeking to procure 34 ships in FY27, including submarines, destroyers, and amphibious assault ships.
