Pentagon Accelerates Production Of Advanced Missile Defense System
The Pentagon has agreed to a $4.7 billion contract with Lockheed Martin to accelerate production of its Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement interceptors. The deal aims to deliver record numbers of combat-proven interceptors for American and allied forces this year, according to Lockheed Martin. The PAC-3 MSE is designed to identify and track a range of threats, including ballistic missiles and hypersonics, and engage them via direct body-to-body contact.
