Low-Cost Carriers Show Improved Carbon Performance
A carbon analysis of four low-cost carriers in the Americas region, including Southwest Airlines, JetBlue, Frontier Airlines, and WestJet, reveals a downward trend in CO2 emissions per Available Seat Kilometer (ASK). The analysis, conducted by Aviation Week, shows that Frontier Airlines has achieved remarkably low CO2/ASK levels, thanks to its modern Airbus A320 family fleet. The average CO2kg/ASK for these airlines is over 20% more efficient than the global average, which could help mitigate rising fuel costs. This was reported by Aviation Week.
