Italian Air Force Expands Refueling Capabilities In $1.6 Billion Deal
The Italian Ministry of Defense has awarded a contract to Airbus for the procurement of six A330 multi-role tanker transport aircraft, valued at $1.6 billion. The deal, announced on the European Union’s public procurement platform, will last roughly 10 years. Italy initially considered the Boeing-made KC-46 Pegasus tankers but halted the procurement due to changed needs. The A330 tanker fleet will provide the Italian Air Force with enhanced refueling capabilities. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
