Rising Fuel Costs Prompt Icelandic Carrier To Reconsider Fleet Plans
Icelandair is likely to accelerate the phase-out of its remaining Boeing 757 fleet due to elevated jet fuel prices, which have changed the economics of operating the aircraft. The airline will decide next month whether to bring forward the retirement of the 757s by one year. As reported by Aviation Week, Icelandair’s fleet will consist of 52 aircraft in 2026, with 35 serving international routes.
