Homeland Security Department Enters Direct Contracts With Major Hyperscalers
The Homeland Security Department has initiated the award process for Cumulus, its enterprise cloud effort, by entering into direct contracts with the four major hyperscalers: Amazon, Oracle, Google Cloud, and Microsoft. The contracts will have a one-year base ordering period followed by up to four individual option years. DHS aims to gain greater visibility into cloud spending and usage, achieve economies of scale, and bring in various cloud functions. The department is also creating a separate multiple-award competition to support the Cumulus effort. This development was first reported by Washington Technology.
