Bristow, Electra Partner for Hybrid Ultra-STOL Tests

Norway To Host Flight Demonstrations Of Low Emission Aircraft

Bristow Group has partnered with US startup Electra to conduct flight tests of hybrid-electric aircraft in Norway, following a successful program with BETA Technologies. The upcoming tests, which start mid-2027, aim to demonstrate the feasibility of operating regional and local air connections with zero- and low-emission aircraft. Electra’s ultra-short takeoff and landing aircraft can land and take off from surfaces as short as 50 meters, opening up opportunities to connect remote communities in Norway. The test program is part of Norway’s efforts to fully electrify domestic flights by 2030 and make its domestic aviation entirely fossil fuel-free by 2040, as reported by AeroTime.
