Osprey Upgrade Boosts Fleet Readiness Amid Safety Scrutiny
Bell Textron’s Nacelle Improvement Program has achieved significant reductions in maintenance hours and increases in fleet readiness for the US Air Force Special Operations Command’s CV-22 Ospreys. The program, which modifies the aircraft’s nacelles to simplify maintenance, has saved AFSOC over 24,000 maintenance hours and lifted fleet readiness by more than 10%. The results are based on over 10,000 accumulated flight hours on modified CV-22s, according to Bell. The announcement comes as the V-22 program remains under scrutiny for safety and readiness issues, as reported by AeroTime.
