International Defense Firms Line Up For Lucrative Contract
Belgium has launched a €1.1 billion ($1.3 billion) tender for counter-drone systems, with a host of international defense firms expressing interest. The tender, which covers 10 years with an option for two additional years, aims to provide the country with advanced counter-drone capabilities. Defense Minister Theo Francken has met with US firms, including BAE Systems and Shield AI, and several other companies, including Anduril, CACI, and Saab, have also expressed interest. The tender is part of a broader effort to enhance Belgium’s defense capabilities, following unidentified drone flights near military bases last year. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
