Australia Seals Deal With MHI For Frigates

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries To Build Three Upgraded Mogami-Class Frigates

The Australian government has concluded a contract with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) for the construction of three upgraded Mogami-class frigates for Australia’s General Purpose Frigate (GPF) program. The frigates will be built at MHI’s Nagasaki Shipyard & Machinery Works in cooperation with the Australian and Japanese governments. The first completed frigate is expected to be handed over by December 2029. This development was reported by Marine News Magazine.
