Significant Progress in Aviation Fleet Modernization
The US Army has made significant progress in its efforts to replace its Apache helicopters as part of the Army Transformation Initiative. According to Col. Tim Jaeger, director of Army aviation, the Army has transferred two-thirds of its Apache AH-64D models and divested nearly 60% of its 64D models, while yielding 80% of its E models. The modernization of the fleet is part of a broader effort to rebalance the Army’s aviation capabilities, which includes reducing the number of Army Combat Aviation Brigades. The Army’s progress was reported by Breaking Defense.
