French Company Explores Manufacturing Options For Deep Strike Capabilities
ArianeGroup, the French maker of the Ariane 6 space launcher, is studying the possibility of manufacturing ballistic missiles in Germany, according to CEO Christophe Bruneau. The company is jointly owned by Airbus and Safran, and Bruneau believes in the importance of French-German cooperation in defense. France has budgeted €1 billion to develop a land-based ballistic missile, with a planned capability date of 2035, although the country’s Directorate General for Armament aims to accelerate the work to 2030.
