The US-Israeli conflict with Iran expanded into Lebanon overnight, as Hezbollah and Israel traded fire there. At least 31 people were reportedly killed in Lebanon. Hezbollah launched missiles from South Lebanon, prompting Israeli retaliation. Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed. The Lebanese government has demanded that Hezbollah ‘hand over its weapons,’ calling any military activity by the group ‘illegal.’ Hezbollah claims its attack on Israel was a ’legitimate defensive response’ and was conducted in response to the killing of Ayatollah Khamenei. Breaking Defense reports that Hezbollah’s attack has ‘instantly transformed Lebanon from fragile bystander to active battlefield.’
