Taiwanese Carrier Expands Fleet with Airbus Lease
STARLUX Airlines has informed the Taiwan Stock Exchange of its intention to lease eight Airbus A321neo jets from BOC Aviation. Each A321neo is priced at around $81.25 million. The airline already operates an all-Airbus fleet, with 13 A321neos and six A330neos. Two A350-1000s with a liquid metal livery designed by Hajime Sorayama are set to join the fleet in the third quarter of 2026. The lease agreement was confirmed by the board of directors on March 10, 2026. According to ch-aviation, STARLUX’s current fleet includes 13 A321neos, six A330neos, nine A350-900s, and a single A350-1000. The airline’s chairman and founder, Chang Kuo-Wei, delivered the airline’s first Airbus A350-1000 aircraft on January 6, 2026, following a 13-hour flight from Toulouse Blagnac Airport (TLS). The aircraft was designed in gold and silver by Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama. The airline’s decision to lease A321neos may indicate a focus on expanding its fleet with modern aircraft. The use of Airbus A321neos and A350-1000s suggests a commitment to premium passenger experience and fuel efficiency. The partnership with Hajime Sorayama may enhance the airline’s brand image and appeal to high-end customers. The lease agreement was first reported by AeroTime.
