New Units Protect Against Growing Cyber Threats To Space Launches
The US Space Force has established two new cyber squadrons to defend against potential cyberattacks during launches, as announced by the service’s Space Systems Command. The 630 Cyberspace Squadron was activated at Vandenberg Space Force Base, while the 645 CYS was reassigned from Delta 6 to Patrick Space Force Base. According to commanders, the new units will work to secure launch systems from various threats, including hijacking satellites or ground systems and using malware to gain unauthorized access. This development follows efforts to protect launch sites from physical intrusions and drone threats, as reported by Breaking Defense.
