Major Milestone For Domestic Combat Aircraft Program Achieved
South Korea has rolled out the first mass-produced KF-21 Boramae fighter jet, marking a significant production milestone for the country’s flagship domestic combat aircraft program. The aircraft, which will now undergo acceptance testing, is expected to be delivered to the Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF) in the second half of 2026. The KF-21 is a twin-engine, 4.5-generation multirole fighter with advanced sensor integration and a locally developed active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar. The program has been developed with the aim of replacing aging F-4E and F-5E aircraft, with the ROKAF requiring 120 KF-21s by 2032. This development was first reported by AeroTime.
