German Manufacturer Shifts Away From Automotive To Meet Rising Demand
Rheinmetall, a German weapons manufacturer, announced that its fiscal year 2026 sales are expected to reach up to €14.5 billion, driven by a 45% annual increase. The company will sell its commercial automotive assets to focus entirely on defense, citing a broad product range and increased demand for operational equipment. Rheinmetall reported a record backlog of €63.8 billion in 2025, with major orders from Germany and its partner countries. According to Breaking Defense, the company is poised to secure new domestic orders worth €32 billion, with subsidiaries and joint ventures in line to receive €56 billion.
