New Undergraduate Jet Training System To Replace T-45 Goshawk Fleet
The US Navy has unveiled its final requests for proposals (RFP) for the Undergraduate Jet Training System (UJTS), a next-generation aircraft for intermediate and advanced pilot training. The UJTS will succeed the T-45 Goshawk fleet, which has been in service since the early 1990s. Notably, the new trainer aircraft will not be required to conduct training on carriers or field carrier landing practice (FCLP) touch downs. Instead, industry must provide unique aircraft simulation capabilities to prepare aviators for carrier landings. The Navy plans to award the contract in March 2027, with a total of 216 aircraft to be purchased, as reported by Aviation Week, who first broke the news on the final RFP.
