Navy Deploys NTCDL for Enhanced Ship Communications

BAE Systems Delivers Advanced Data Link System For Carrier Strike Groups

The U.S. Navy has deployed the Network Tactical Common Data Link (NTCDL) system to enhance communications across carrier strike groups. The system, developed by BAE Systems, enables real-time, multi-channel data link communication, extending the line of sight for the fleet and enhancing situational awareness. According to Jeff Regan, Common Data Links program area director for BAE Systems, NTCDL provides a 360-degree, multi-channel communication capability, allowing for the exchange of voice, data, imagery, and full-motion video simultaneously. The system is currently deployed on aircraft carriers and is scalable for use on multiple ship classes, as part of an $85 million contract awarded to BAE Systems. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
