F-35 Production Disruptions Could Have Far-Reaching Consequences
The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 776 is negotiating a new contract with Lockheed Martin over the F-35 program, which supports over 250,000 jobs through nearly 2,000 suppliers across 48 US states and Puerto Rico. Talks began on March 26, 2026, with the current contract set to expire on June 14, 2026. The union is seeking higher employer 401(k) contributions and limits on rising healthcare costs. The F-35 program is under pressure to sustain output and clear the effects of earlier Technology Refresh 3 delays. The negotiations were first reported by AeroTime.
