Commercial Satellite Data Service Tracks Subtle Earth Surface Changes
IonQ has announced a new satellite data product that detects subtle changes in the Earth’s surface using radar imaging spacecraft operated by its Capella Space subsidiary. The service, based on Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) technology, enables automated detection of surface changes with millimeter-level precision. IonQ acquired Capella in May 2025 and operates eight Capella Acadia radar imaging spacecraft. The company’s offering does not rely on new satellites but on software and processing improvements, allowing customers to task existing spacecraft to collect repeat-pass radar data.
