Former British Airways Boss Takes Helm of Indian Low-Cost Carrier
IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost carrier, has announced the appointment of Willie Walsh as its new CEO. Walsh, the current director general of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), will take over the role on August 3, 2026, following the departure of ex-CEO Pieter Elbers. With a strong background in managing large-scale airline operations, Walsh is expected to bring his expertise to IndiGo and lead the airline to continued growth in the competitive international aviation environment.
