India's Largest Airline Seeks New Leader After Regulatory Fine
IndiGo CEO Pieter Elbers has stepped down with immediate effect, following a $2.6 million fine from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for operational disruptions in December 2025. Elbers, who joined IndiGo in 2022 after a 30-year career at KLM, will be replaced by Rahul Bhatia, the airline’s Managing Director, on an interim basis. The move comes as IndiGo seeks to strengthen its operational excellence and customer service, according to a statement from the Chairman of the Board, Vikram Singh Mehta.
