French Fighter Jets Conduct Missions Above Gulf Bases
French Rafale fighter jets have been deployed in the United Arab Emirates to conduct air security operations above French bases in the Gulf, according to France’s foreign minister Jean-Noël Barrot. The move comes after a drone strike caused limited damage at a French naval facility in Abu Dhabi. France is also preparing to send air defense systems and a frigate to Cyprus, where the UK’s RAF Akrotiri sovereign base has come under drone pressure. The developments were first reported by AeroTime.
