LaGuardia Crash Prompts Enhanced Safety Measures At US Airports
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has accelerated its program to equip airport vehicles with transponders following the LaGuardia crash earlier this year. The $16.5 million investment aims to enhance air traffic control and prevent similar incidents. The program will equip approximately 1,900 vehicles at 44 airports with ASDE-X and ASSC systems, and at 220 airports with Surface Awareness Initiative (SAI) surveillance systems. According to the FAA, this initiative is part of its commitment to proactive safety improvements, as reported by AeroTime.
