Vienna-Based Startup GATE Space Leads Development Effort

The Austrian Ministry of Defense is launching its first satellite, BEACONSAT, developed by Vienna-based startup GATE Space, with a planned launch from a SpaceX Falcon 9 in 2027. The satellite aims to detect jamming and spoofing of navigation signals, which can disrupt troops’ reliance on satellite-based navigation. GATE Space is working with Space Inventor and IGASPIN GmbH, with funding provided by the Austrian MoD and the European Space Agency.
