Ecommerce Giant Expands Into Direct-To-Device Satellite Market
Amazon has announced its acquisition of Globalstar, a LEO satellite operator, in a deal valued at up to $11.5 billion. The acquisition will enable Amazon to enter the direct-to-device (D2D) satellite market earlier, with Globalstar’s existing satellite fleet and infrastructure set to operate alongside Amazon’s LEO constellation. The deal is expected to close in 2027, pending regulatory approvals, and was first reported by Developing Telecoms.
