Nonstop Flights Connect Australia To French Polynesia
Air Tahiti Nui has announced a new direct service between Papeete International Airport and Sydney Kingsford Smith International Airport, providing Australian travelers with their first nonstop connection to French Polynesia. The twice-weekly flights, starting December 14, 2026, will eliminate the need for a stopover in Auckland, significantly reducing travel time. The airline’s CEO, Lionel Guérin, framed the new route as part of a broader regional strategy, including a codeshare agreement with Qantas to offer additional frequency options. This development reflects growing Australian interest in French Polynesia, with the island destination welcoming a record number of visitors in 2025, according to AeroTime.
