US Army Evaluates Portable Loitering Munitions For Frontline Units
The US Army has awarded Textron Systems a prototype agreement under the Low Altitude Stalking & Strike Ordnance (LASSO) program, aiming to field portable loitering munitions for frontline units. Textron will deliver its Damocles loitering munition system, which features a VTOL-launched effect with autonomous or semi-autonomous search-and-strike capability, and conduct a demonstration for the service. The LASSO program is part of the Army’s push to rapidly deliver precision capabilities to dismounted units, as reported by AeroTime.
