Taiwan Upgrades Transport Capabilities Amid Rising Tensions
Taiwan has decided to purchase 10 new Lockheed Martin C-130J transport aircraft instead of upgrading its existing C-130H fleet due to the high costs involved. The Republic of China Air Force cited the need for a more resilient and capable military force amidst rising tensions with China. The planned upgrade had included integrating the cockpit interface and collision avoidance systems, as well as reinforcing airframes. The acquisition plan comes as Taiwan faces increasing threats from China, with the Ministry of National Defense detecting several People’s Liberation Army Navy vessels in the waters around Taiwan.
