Space Force Expands Dynamic Space Operations Capabilities
Starfish Space has secured a $54.5 million contract to provide the Space Force with a second Otter satellite-servicing craft, supporting dynamic space operations in geosynchronous Earth orbit. The contract, funded through the Defense Department’s APFIT program, aims to enhance the Space Force’s ability to sustain critical space assets and increase operational flexibility. The Otter satellite-servicing craft is designed to provide supplemental power to satellites, keeping them in position or moving them as needed. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
