Democratic Lawmaker Cites Lack Of Cybersecurity Experience
Sen. Ron Wyden, D-OR, is blocking the confirmation of Lt. Gen. Joshua Rudd, the Trump administration’s pick to lead US Cyber Command and the National Security Agency, citing Rudd’s lack of familiarity with basic constitutional rights and his inexperience in signals intelligence and cybersecurity. Wyden’s office confirmed that he will not only vote against Rudd but also plans to put a hold on the nomination, which could drag out the confirmation process. The decision comes as the command and agency have been without a permanent leader since April. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
