Scandinavian Carrier Explores Large Widebody Order Amid Growing Demand for Long-Haul Travel
SAS Scandinavia Airlines is exploring a potential widebody order with Boeing and Airbus, according to Bloomberg. CEO Anko van der Werff has hinted at a large order to meet growing demand for long-haul travel. The airline’s current fleet consists of only Airbus widebodies, but it is considering the 777X, 787 Dreamliners, A330neos, or more A350s. SAS recently expanded its intercontinental offering with three new routes from Copenhagen and announced a substantial order for Embraer E-195 E2 aircraft in July 2025.
