Second Interceptor Competition Heats Up With New Entrant
Rafael has been selected for Phase I of the Army’s second Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC) Increment 2 interceptor program, joining Lockheed Martin and the Boeing-Anduril team. The company’s new solution revolves around an updated version of the Tamir missile, which will be produced at a new facility in Arkansas. The Army began hunting for a second interceptor over two years ago, and the current IFPC Inc 2 deal was awarded to Dynetics and RTX in late 2024. The Army plans to choose which companies will move forward to the prototyping stage later this year, as reported by Breaking Defense.
