Pentagon to Spend All $152 Billion of Reconciliation Funding This Fiscal Year

DoD Accelerates Spending to Bolster Defense Industrial Base and Missile Defense

The Pentagon has announced plans to spend all $152 billion of the funding allocated through last year’s reconciliation bill in fiscal 2026, a departure from previous plans to spend $113 billion of that sum. The department will allocate funds to various programs, including munitions procurement, missile defense, and shipbuilding. The spending plan includes $400 million for hypersonic weapons programs and $24.4 billion for missile defense initiatives. The Army and Navy’s joint Common Hypersonic Glide Body program will receive funding to accelerate production of the hypersonic weapon. The plan was obtained by Breaking Defense.
