Defense Department Expands Budget for Munitions and Shipbuilding
The US Department of Defense has announced plans to spend $152 billion in fiscal year 2026, with a focus on munitions, shipbuilding, and emerging technologies. The spending plan includes $25 billion for munitions and supply chain development, as well as $29 billion for Navy shipbuilding and maritime industrial base expansion. The plan also allocates funds for hypersonic weapons, advanced manufacturing, and other priorities. According to Breaking Defense, the Pentagon’s spending plan is aimed at bolstering the defense industrial base and enhancing its capabilities in key areas.
