New Units To Operationalize IW Capabilities Within Carrier Strike Groups
The US Navy is establishing new information warfare squadrons to better operationalize information warfare capabilities within carrier strike groups, according to Vice Adm. Michael Vernazza, commander of Naval Information Forces. The move aims to improve the lethality of information warfare at sea and provide strike groups with IW forces early in the training cycle. The Navy announced the creation of Information Warfare Squadron (IWRON) Two in early December, with plans to also establish a west coast based IWRON Nine.
