Saudi Arabia And Lockheed Collaborate On Unmanned Turret Development
Lockheed Martin has partnered with Saudi Arabia’s ERAF to explore the development of a combat vehicle-mounted unmanned turret, which could be produced in the kingdom. The turret, currently under development in the UK, features a 20 mm cannon, a Javelin missile launcher, and an electrooptical system. According to Tim Cahill, president of fire and missile control at Lockheed, the system could contribute to SHORAD and situational awareness. The partnership is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 initiative, which aims to increase local defense production. This development was first reported by Breaking Defense.
