DIU Seeks Commercially Developed Imagery Satellites for On-Orbit Spying

Pentagon Accelerator Seeks Low-Cost Space-Based Tactical Reconnaissance Capabilities

The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) has published a solicitation for commercially developed imagery satellites to support on-orbit spying capabilities. The Geosynchronous High-Resolution Optical Space-Based Tactical Reconnaissance program aims to reduce costs compared to existing programs and provide high-resolution image collection, increased collection frequency, and detailed characterization of resident space objects in GEO. Bidders must be able to provide a minimal viable product within 24 months, with the successful deployment expected to significantly improve GEO RSO characterization, BDA, PID, and CID capabilities.
