US Army Faces Challenges in Sustainment Costs, Training Value

The US Army is facing challenges in its sustainment costs, particularly with regards to non-mission capable tanks. Advanced manufacturing techniques can produce parts quickly, but current policies limit their use due to funding and pricing constraints. The Army has identified nearly 1,700 parts that can be produced using advanced manufacturing techniques, which could potentially restore vehicle availability and preserve training readiness.
