Automated Refueling Capability Marks World-First In Aviation

Airbus and Singapore have announced the completion of the certification of the Automatic Air to Air Refueling (A3R) capability of the Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT). The certification, granted by the Spanish National Institute for Aerospace Technology, marks a key milestone in the development of the A330 MRTT platform and a world-first in aviation. According to Airbus, the A3R system can be tailored to other types of aircraft receivers, and there has been international interest in the program, with Canada being a potential customer.
