Malaysian Carrier Expands Fleet with New ATR Order Amid Regional Growth Plans

AirBorneo has ordered eight new ATR aircraft, comprising five ATR 72-600s and three ATR 42-600s. The order was announced at the Singapore Airshow 2026 and confirmed by Malaysia’s Sarawak Ministry of Transport. According to CEO Megat Ardian, the ATR platform is suitable for AirBorneo’s operating environment. ATR CEO Nathalie Tarnaud Laude noted that the aircraft align with AirBorneo’s long-term fleet renewal plan following the acquisition of MASwings and rebranding to AirBorneo. The agreement includes four purchase options, allowing for future growth opportunities.
