Service Invests In Multiple Engine Makers For Future Autonomous Platforms
The Air Force has awarded contracts to a mix of engine makers, including Beehive Industries, Honeywell, Pratt & Whitney, and a team-up of GE Aerospace and Kratos, to develop engines for its forthcoming drone wingmen and other autonomous platforms. The awards will support the development of engine designs for Combat Collaborative Aircraft (CCA) Increment 2 and other types of Autonomous Collaborative Platforms (ACP). The Air Force is taking a multi-vendor approach to ensure a variety of options for powering its diverse and evolving fleet of ACP and CCA Increments. This was first reported by Breaking Defense.
