Ultra-Low-Cost Carrier Applies For Transatlantic Operations
Wizz Air UK, the British subsidiary of the pan-European ultra-low-cost carrier, has applied to the US Department of Transportation for permission to fly to the United States. The application refers to the Open Skies agreement between the US and the UK, seeking the right to conduct scheduled and charter operations. Wizz Air had previously applied for a Foreign Air Carrier Permit in 2022 but was turned down. The airline’s strategy has changed significantly since then, and with its A321XLR aircraft, it may be poised to enter the Transatlantic passenger market. This development was first reported by AeroTime.
