Barcelona-Based Low-Cost Carrier Sets Ambitious Goals for Fleet Renewal and Expansion
Vueling, part of International Airlines Group (IAG), has unveiled its ‘Rumbo 2035’ strategic roadmap, aiming to increase annual passengers to 60 million by 2035. The airline plans to invest €5 billion in fleet renewal and modernization, transitioning from an all-Airbus fleet to Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Vueling expects the transition to take seven to eight years, with fuel savings of up to 20%. CEO Carolina Martinoli highlighted the importance of regional hubs, such as Barcelona-El Prat airport, which will continue to be a key focus for the airline.
