New Regional Defense Initiative Amid Tensions with Iran
Amid heightened tensions between the US and Iran, US Central Command has established a new air and missile defense coordination cell at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar. The Middle Eastern Air Defense - Combined Defense Operations Cell (MEAD-CDOC) aims to improve regional defense cooperation and coordination, and will be part of the Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC). According to CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper, this cell will enhance how regional forces coordinate and share air and missile defense responsibilities.
