CENTCOM Opens New Air and Missile Defense Coordination Cell Amid Tensions with Iran
The US has launched a new air and missile defense coordination cell at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, amid tensions with Iran. CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper said it’s a significant step forward in strengthening regional defense cooperation. The cell will improve how regional forces coordinate and share air and missile defense responsibilities across the Middle East. Breaking Defense reports that the timing of this move is not indicative of upcoming US military action, but rather an attempt to reinforce the defense pact with Qatar.
